The Chippewa County Historical Society has expanded the days the Area History Center is open to the public. The museum is now open the fourth Saturday of each month. We will not be open on Saturdays in June, July or December. The first Saturday open is January 26, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. The new time is scheduled in conjunction with the Chippewa County Genealogical Society’s monthly program meeting. Tour a 50-room museum and/or research genealogy and local history in the extensive library. The Chippewa County Historical and Genealogical Societies are located at 123 Allen St., Chippewa Falls.

We're open:

Tuesdays, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., tours at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and
the fourth Saturday of each month September through May, except December, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

The area history center and museum building was formerly the Notre Dame Convent built in 1883. The Historical and Genealogical Socities moved to their historic home in 1990.
